If you’re off work sick for 7 days or less, your employer should not ask for medical evidence that you’ve been ill. Instead they can ask you to confirm that you’ve been ill. You can do this by filling in a form yourself when you return to work. This is called self-certification.
If you’re off work sick for more than 7 days, your employer will usually ask for a fit note (or Statement of Fitness for Work) from a GP or hospital doctor. Fit notes are sometimes referred to as medical statements or a doctor’s note.
When you work out the number of days that you’ve been sick, you need to count all the days in a row you’ve been sick, including days you do not usually work, such as weekends and bank holidays.
Please book a 20 minute consultation for assessment, you will not get charged for the sick note.

What exactly is Safety Critical Work
Safety Critical Work is defined as:
any work where the ill health of an individual may compromise their ability to undertake a task defined as safety-critical, posing a risk to the health and safety of others
Therefore under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, employers have a duty of care to prevent ill health or injuries to their workers.
It is important that safety critical workers are not suffering from conditions or undergoing treatment which could cause impaired awareness, concentration, balance, coordination, impaired mobility and sudden loss of consciousness.
After your appointment, your questionnaire and results are reviewed by one of our Senior Occupational health team and a Safety Critical Medical Report/Certificate will be provided to you within 24 hours.
